I should really give this blogging thing a second chance I tell myself.
I want to share my story. I want to inspire others. I want them to see the transformative power of travelling. I want to share the stories of the people I’ve met along the journey. I want to tell it all.
It’s been almost 2 years since I blogged consistently. No wonder I never know what to say when people ask “Are you a travel blogger” tbh I feel like a fraud! I go with the title content creator nowadays. I feel it’s a little less daunting and I actually enjoy documenting my travels and sharing them with you guys exactly so that what this page will be all about: sharing my first love. Back to basics I suppose, never overthinking it, just allowing it to be.
Again no big promises. I do not intend to do this stuff weekly, even though as I type this I’m thinking “I’m sure I can actually do this frequently”. But you know life gets busy. A week is missed and guilt starts to play its violin. Anyway, we will see how it all goes.
So here are a few life updates. If you follow me on my socials you probably already know but no harm sharing some highlights.
I turned 25! My goodness! Still feels crazy to see such a big number on my screen. But you know your girl will forever be a baby girl! The exciting thing about 25 is that the conversations with your girlfriends’defo shifts. We now talk about grown-up stuff like how to buy properties and if we should and when to freeze our eggs (true talk). Turning 25 is super exciting! There is a freedom that comes with it! I finally feel like I am evolving into the woman I was meant to be! At least that is what I tell myself everyday! Affirmation baby!
I also celebrated visiting my 60th country, Iceland. I know 60 whole countries! Young Pelumi could’ve never imagined this. I am reminded of the quote about ‘how exciting life is knowing that the best days of our lives are yet to come’. I’ve always dreamt about visiting Iceland and I have concluded that God really took his time when creating that country; the nature is breathtaking. Your girl might just someday have her own holiday home somewhere out there; I will make sure to refer to this post when it happens. You can find out I was able to collaborate with MyPostcard app and sent out 60 postcards to people in 10+ countries.
Another highlight was that the BBC interviewed me and I was able to be a guest speaker in over 10 podcasts last year. I spoke about all things travel and showing that travelling can be truly safe, easy and do-able. Click this link to see a list of a few interviews. I also started black Kintsugi audio because even though I enjoyed speaking on other people’s podcasts, I still wanted something crafted by myself with bite-size stories inspired by travels with the hope of getting you going too.
My love for showcasing travelling especially taking people through unbeaten paths inspired my first ever group to eastern Europe which is happening in June. This is a special invitation to you all to come along to explore Kosovo. CLICK here for more details. Eastern Europe has so many hidden treasures and allowing you to explore it with me will be such a pleasure.
I am currently in the final year of my PhD and nothing has tested me in my entire years of existence like this particular journey. I can’t wait to someday share how we came and conquered!
Travelling has truly changed me. My self-reliance is bursting through the roof; I am able to speak to any crowd no matter their cultural background. I would not trade this for anything!
Phewwww! And these are just a few from the top of my head. May you always find reasons to count your blessings.
So what does 2020 have in store for me? I am not so sure but whatever it is I am open to it all. So keep the faith! Even in the toughest days.
