Happy New Year!

I know what you are thinking; it’s a full month into the New Year? Well like they say, better late than never!

More importantly, I realise that it been almost a year since I last blogged and to date I don’t really know why I stopped. I think it was on the quest to figure out my path? Why was I doing what I was doing and most importantly, what benefit or value did it serve for others? I am yet to fully answer that question as it tends to morph. I do know for sure that is a platform to inspire you to be brave and to pursue the things that set your soul on fire. Life might not manifest in the physical form the way you have it planned out in your head. Put simply, perfection is a flimsy excuse to not execute. It’s absolutely liberating to know that it’s better to at least do something at the moment than to wait for the perfect timing and never get it done.  Moreover, you are the best person to tell your story and our unique perception of life allows us to be the best storytellers who ever lived.

You might be wondering what I have been up to during my sabbatical:

  • I completed my challenge to 50 countries (WHOOP WHOOP)
    • This goal was so important to me I really wanted to stretch myself in 2018, and visiting 20 new countries was definitely a perfect stretch that I needed. I was able to full submerse myself in the culture whilst having a good work-life balance. I can’t wait to share the lessons I learnt during my travel and story of people I met along the way and how they have inspired me to be the best version of myself.

  • I deleted my Instagram feed and started again
    • Coming to the understanding that the only consistency is change. I was able to embrace that and shift the narrative from just focusing on my journey and me but instead the stories of people I meet during my journey because they are my biggest influence. The act of kintsugi means not focusing on my imperfections but instead, fully realising my potential and using that in my favour. That is what my Instagram page is about; A daily dose of positivity. Reminding us all of our beauty despite the cracks present.

  • I went on more networking events
    • I took out time to move relationships from the screen to real life. I scheduled coffee dates and attended events, it was liberating putting names to faces; I certainly will incorporate more of that this new year.

  • I drafted a proposal for my online concept
    • I have always wanted to provide value to those around me and I think my launching this platform will allow solo travellers to have one less thing to worry about. Launch date is set for summer 2019. Till then, tell your friends and family to anticipate something coming their way soon.

  • I found my niche
    • This was important for me as I wanted to be particular about what I was good at and that is Europe travel. I do it so frequently that it’s almost second nature now. I am not fazed by the flight search or looking for the cheapest deal or exploring the different culture so it not just cathedral and museum visit but digging deep into what individual countries have to offer and that’s important to me. I hope to see the rest of Europe before the end of this year and work with the tourism board to promote travelling even with a full-time job.

My 2019 goal is plain and simple.

It is my year of doing. Almost my version of a year of yes by Shonda Rhimes I challenge each and every one of you reading this to just do it, like Nike says. JUST DO IT! If it’s the blog, podcast, online course, business, bungee jumping or telling the love of your life how much he/she means to you, Just do it. They say life is short but I do think it is way too short to have the ‘what if ‘ questions at the end of it all.

I hope to share more this year. See you same time, same place next week!

Love always,
