Ever come back home from a holiday with a suitcase full of souvenirs you simply don’t need? This was me when I visited India in 2015. It was my 8th country and I was excited to go somewhere described as being exotic. The trip was probably by far my most memorable. What I do also remember is coming back home with a suitcase filled with so many rare finds from my numerous market visits; from leather-bound books to art decoration that I might use in my room someday, to keyrings and small leather purses. I even purchased a sari in the hope that I would wear it someday to a friend’s wedding. 4 years later and I am still yet to touch any of the items in the suitcase. The truth was I simply did not need them.

After that trip, I made up my mind that I would no longer be lured into spending so much on unnecessary items. Instead, I will ensure I keep memories of the places I have visited by collecting postcards. Even better I came across MyPostcard which is both a website and app. Which allows you to upload your photo and a personalised message. They then print and mail them to your loved ones worldwide. It’s easy, cheap, and perfect to keep for memories.

Although we are increasingly becoming heavily dependent on social media, most of us are aware that this platform could one day no longer exist. Then how would we be able to go down memory lane? The world is truly beautiful, and I did not want my memory of it to only last for 24hours. I wanted it to be more substantial; to be able to pull out my memory box and to show my grandkids the adventures I got up to. I made a bucket list in 2017 and I am slowly but surely going through them.

Collecting and sending postcards seems to be the perfect fix with one side showing a picture which tells a thousand words, and the reverse side telling the receiver how much they mean to you. I mostly love the personalized handwriting options that MyPostcard design provides. Postcards might truly be the future of travel journals.

But have you ever gone into the tourist shop to buy a postcard but just don’t like all the images they have to offer? `Here is where MyPostcard shines. You can simply personalize every image on any postcard you create and have it delivered to anywhere around the world for as little as $1.99.

It’s super easy to use the MyPostcard app and as we approach a new year and even more excitingly a new decade. It would be great if you challenge yourself to go exploring, see the world. How exciting would it be to create a new year resolution using the MyPostcard app. This postcard gets sent to you mid next year. That way you could reflect on what you wanted the New Year to be like and check if you are on track to achieving all your goals, especially your travel goals.

And I conclude with a special announcement!

To celebrate me visiting my 60 countries, I will be sending out 60 postcards all individually personalised. 3 lucky individuals will win a £20 mypostcard voucher so they can send notes to their family and friends whilst abroad. Also, one lucky winner will be accompanying me on an all paid for trip next year*. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to be the lucky winner of this MyPostcard challenge. To enter simply click here and fill in your details!

Best wishes! And cheers to a new year filled with adventures and postcards to document every single one of them!

Love and Light,

Black. Kintsugi
